Call for Abstracts: The 14th ELACTA Conference, 15-16 May 2026, Bucharest, Romania

You are cordially invited to present your experiences and knowledge in the form of a poster and/or a 15-minute oral presentation, thereby actively contributing to the ELACTA Conference 2026.  Below, you will find the details for submission of abstracts.

Submission process – essential points:

  1. Abstracts for a poster and/or an oral presentation will be accepted in the areas of Clinical Practice, Policies and Advocacy, Research and Breastfeeding Support Projects.
  2. Abstracts can be submitted for
    1. an oral presentation (up to 15 minutes on Thursday, 14 May 2026) or
    2. a printed poster (maximum size A0 (portrait format), to be exhibited on 15-16 May 2026).
  1. Applications must be submitted by 1 February 2025, via the Google form published on the Conference 2026 ELACTA webpage. Only complete submissions which conform to the specified format and structure guidelines and are received before the deadline will be accepted for consideration.
  2. The ELACTA Conference Scientific Committee will select from among the abstracts submitted. The authors will be notified of the acceptance or rejection by email by 15 January 2026, and are kindly asked to confirm receipt by email to:
  3. Authors of the selected abstracts will be eligible for registration under the early registration rate. In the case of a collaborative abstract this applies only to one author or a designated representative.
  4. After the Conference, the selected abstracts for oral presentations and posters may be published on the ELACTA website.
  5. Award for the best oral presentation and poster:

The winning abstracts of posters and oral presentations (voted by the conference participants) will be invited to publish an article in ELACTA’s journal Lactation and Breastfeeding, and authors will be nominated a free ticket to the next ELACTA conference in 2028.

(In the case of a collaborative abstract this applies only to one author or a designated representative.)

Guidelines for abstract submission, oral presentation and posters:

  1. All abstracts are required to be breastfeeding, lactation, motherhood related.
  2. Language for abstracts for posters and oral presentation is English.
  3. All authors / projects/research/cases are required to be WHO Code Compliant.
  4. Abstracts should include the background to the study/case or activity; the aims and objectives; methods; analysis and results (if applicable) and any recommendations for breastfeeding practice, education, or research.
  5. The abstract should not exceed 500 characters.
