Author Information and Disclosure of Conflicts of InterestThe first part of the German S3 Guideline on Breastfeeding Duration and Interventions to Promote Breastfeeding was published on 20th February 2026 (DGKJ et al., 2025). After about five years of intensive interdisciplinary work, it provides, for the first time, clear, evidence-based, and nationally coordinated recommendations on breastfeeding duration for Germany. For healthcare professionals, this is an important milestone as it provides a sound basis for consistent and evidence-based breastfeeding counselling.
