Members of national IBCLC associations that are part of ELACTA are eligible for full-text access to Lactation & Breastfeeding. The associations are organised into groups on the Lactation & Breastfeeding website and can provide their members with access in their association groups according to the member fee they pay to ELACTA.
Essentially, the associations have three options for granting their members access:
- Access granted by adding the email address(es) of the member(s) for immediate access (individually or in bulk).
- Access granted by invitation mail with activation link (individually or in bulk).
- Access granted by providing a self-registration link with a group code.
Each method will be explained in detail here.
1. Access granted by adding the email address(es) of member(s) for immediate access
Your association can provide you access to the full-textes of all articles in Lactation & Breastfeeding by adding your email address and, if desired, also your first and last name, username and possibly also password in the group admin dashboard. Thus, your data will be added to the group granting you immediate acces. You only need to log in.
A standard notification will only be sent to new users so they can set their password.
This is what the standard email notification for new users looks like:

The association will need an additional method, either verbal or written, to notify you about your access. For example, they could inform you in person or by phone, or set up a custom email containing the relevant information.
To access the full texts, you can log in at several points on the website, for example, on a PC, at the top right:

or within a restricted article:

If you want to edit your profile, move your mouse over the little man icon in the top-right corner. A submenu will then drop down. Click on “Edit Your Profile”:

This is the ‘Edit Your Profile’ page, where you can update your details:
2. Access granted by invitation email with activation link
Your association can provide you access to the full-textes of all articles in Lactation & Breastfeeding by sending an invitation email with an activation link to you that looks like the figure below depending on the invitation text your board set:

Please note that the email may end up in your junk mail folder!
To join your association’s group and get full access, click on the activation link at the bottom. Clicking on the link will accept the invitation and give you full-text access.
After clicking, you will be automatically forwarded to the ‘Edit Your Profile’ page, where you can set your password and change other details.

Now you don´t need to stay on the Edit Your Profile page. You are already logged in and can move to the articles you want to read.
3. Access granted via self-registration link and group code
The most common way in which your association can grant you full-text-access to Lactation & Breastfeeding is by providing you with a link to a page with a registration form and a field for a special group code set by the group admin.
It is up to your association to decide whether they send a link containing the group code or send the group code separately for safety reasons.
The group code is supposed to be changed regularly by the group admins for safety reasons.
This is how the registration form looks like:

Either the group code at the bottom of the form has already been filled in, or you need to fill it out using the code provided separately by your association.
Please note that if you self-register, you will not receive any email notifications. Please make a note of your login details!
After clicking the ‘Register’ button, you will be taken to the ‘Your Membership’ page.

Now you don´t need to stay on the ‘Your Membership’ page. You are already logged in and can move to the articles you want to read.
