Being able to understand texts is a human right. Easy language is an integral component of target-audience-oriented, barrier-free communication. The ratification of UN guidelines means that there are legal requirements at EU and national levels. Information which is geared to a target audience makes it easier for whatever is being presented to be understood and implemented. In breastfeeding counselling, this form of sharing information will set the course for the future.

Marianne Reber, Certified nurse HF, IBCLC from 1996–2021, University of Applied Sciences and Arts, Northwestern Switzerland – CAS in Target-group-oriented, barrier free communication 2024After completing her training in 1985, Marianne Reber worked in various areas of nursing, from 1991 to 2010 in obstetrics and gynaecology, and from 1996 to 2021 as a freelance lactation consultant (IBCLC). She has published specialist articles on homeopathy, trisomy 21, congenital heart defects and easy language.
She is the mother of five children. Since 2009, she has focused on caring for and providing a wide range of support for her daughter, who has trisomy 21 and cerebral palsy.
